WHERE DO YOU BEGIN?
You will come ashore here and build your first settlement. Every other island is reachable by boat, and the world loads whichever one you land on.

BEFORE THE SHIPS
Cebu — Sugbu — with nothing on it. No roads, no towns, no iron. Bamboo, thatch, stone, fire and the sea. You clear ground, you plant, you fish, and you paddle across the channel to Mactan when you feel like it. Everything you see, you put there.
On making it Cebu-sized
Real Cebu is 225 km by 45 km. At one unit per metre that's a 225,000-unit world: a terrain mesh would need over 150 million vertices, and float precision starts to visibly shake past 100,000 units. Worse, walking the length of it would take twelve real hours.
So this island keeps Cebu's shape and proportions — 2,480 units long and 530 at the widest, a ratio of 1:4.7 against Cebu's real 1:5 — with distances compressed. The same compression now carries the whole country: the world is 28,000 units across and holds about 43 million square units of land, and the terrain streams in chunks around you at four levels of detail instead of existing all at once. Walking Cebu end to end takes about seven minutes, which is the number that actually matters.
Every island here is a real coastline, given in latitude and longitude. Cebu leans west as it runs south, exactly as it does in life; Negros bends around the Tañon Strait on the far side; Bohol sits square across the water to the south-east. Beyond the Visayas the map runs the length of the country — Luzon and the Bicol peninsula to the north, Mindanao and the Sulu chain south, Palawan reaching south-west, and Batanes alone at the top.
Thirty-one islands, all of them reachable under sail. The near ones first — times are for the little bangka you start with, and for a karakoa:
Mactan — across the channel. Flat coral, three-quarters of it buildable. 6s · 3s
Bohol — south-east across the strait, broad and rolling. 41s · 19s
Camotes — east-north-east in the Camotes Sea, small and hilly. 67s · 31s
Leyte — long and mountainous, far to the east. 100s · 46s
Bantayan — low and sandy, off Cebu's northern end. 153s · 71s
Siquijor — small and round, away to the south. 155s · 72s
Negros — the largest, and the highest at 84. It faces Cebu across the Tañon Strait, but Cebu is in the way: you must round one tip or the other. 174s · 80s
Panay, Samar, Masbate and the rest of the archipelago are on the same map and the same system. Luzon and Mindanao are the giants, and the flattest ground to build a city on; Siargao and Bantayan are low and sandy; Camiguin is a steep little volcano with barely a shelf. Sail far enough and the world loads the island you land on.

What to try first
Chop wood in the treeline, then raise a bahay kubo.
Walk east to the water. The bangka is beached there — press E. You can swim out to it, but watch your breath.
Click the boat to launch a balangay or a karakoa once you can afford one.
Steer across the channel to Mactan and press E again to land.
Set a bunuan fish corral in the shallows on either shore.
Chunks stream as you move, so the first few seconds after you cross a boundary may hitch. The counter top-right shows how many are loaded.
